AIS Basel’s Model UN Represents in Vienna 🌍 🏛️
The AIS Basel Model UN club went to a three-day conference in Vienna, where they joined students from around the world to debate significant political and social issues.
Representing countries such as Ukraine, the UK, and Somalia, our students explored topics like Ukraine’s NATO membership bid, human trafficking, and the Palestine-Israel conflict, collaborating to draft thoughtful resolution papers.
Outside the conference, the team had the chance to visit Vienna’s UN offices and take in the city’s historic landmarks, including the Albertina museum and the national library—a meaningful balance of learning and cultural enrichment.
We are proud to share that three of our students were recognized for their exceptional contributions:
🏅 Alex – Best Delegate (Ukraine, NATO)
🌟 Elsa – Outstanding Delegate (UK, Human Rights Council)
👏 Sunishka – Honourable Mention (Somalia, Human Rights Council)
Well done to all our participants for their hard work and commitment to these important discussions.

A Closer Look at the Heart🔍
Students from AIS Zurich recently participated in a hands-on biology lesson by dissecting a pig’s heart.
This practical session provided a valuable complement to the theoretical study of the heart’s anatomy, a key topic in A Level Biology. Such exercises help students deepen their understanding of complex biological structures and functions while making the material more memorable.
This experimental approach highlights the importance of engaging and practice-oriented teaching at our schools.

Science at AIS Basel Over the Past Month 🔬✨ 🧪
The past weeks have been filled with exciting hands-on learning at AIS Basel:
Prospective Year 7 students attending an opening evening, explored forensic techniques, using microscopes to examine fingerprints and insect life cycles.
Year 10 biology lessons involved building plasticine models of chromosomes to better understand the process of mitosis—a creative approach to visualizing how cells divide.
The A-Level biology class investigated how forensic specialists analyse changes in ecosystems to estimate timeframes—a thought-provoking study that included understanding how succession occurs on different surfaces.
It’s been a time of curiosity and discovery, with every student finding new ways to connect scientific concepts to the real world.
