Sensory Labs Bring Winter to Life ❄️
AIS Basel's Year 9 First Language English students recently took part in sensory labs designed to sharpen their descriptive writing skills, focusing on specific detail and learning to show, not tell.
Using winter as their theme, students moved through eight stations, engaging with items that brought each sense into play, from wind chimes and pine to citrus, spice and lebkuchen.
The details they gathered will feed into winter haiku for Art Across the Curriculum, connecting the writing work to the visual arts.

AIS Zurich's Grade 7 NT Science class explored Hooke's Law this week, measuring how a spring's extension changed as different masses were added.
Students recorded their data and connected the results back to the underlying physics, turning a classic lab into a hands-on lesson in how forces behave.

AIS Basel recently hosted an evening workshop for parents of teens, focused on helping families navigate the challenges of social media.
An experienced psychologist shared practical, grounded tips for supporting children and teens as they deal with the risks that come with new apps and platforms.
Parents came with questions, brought friends along, and stayed afterwards for a relaxed apéro to keep the conversation going.
