Special Educational Needs
For the small number of students on our SEN (Special Educational Needs) register, we follow best practice when it comes to both access arrangements and 3 Wave (or tier) teaching. This means accommodations such as extra time or time allowed for breaks are not only implemented in a formal exam setting but also in our classroom settings.
Access arrangements (AA) are pre-examination adjustments to prevent a candidate from being placed at a disadvantage as a consequence of learning disability or a temporary injury. Access arrangements cannot be granted to just any students. The idea behind it is to give a candidate with disadvantage, the same chances as the others.
In short, a candidate must go through a thorough assessment process in order to, maybe, be granted the AA.
