Exploring Cells Under the Microscope 🔬
Year 11 IGCSE Biology students at AIS Zurich honed their microscopy skills by analysing prepared slides of animal and plant tissues.
They also prepared and stained cheek cell samples using methylene blue, enabling them to observe cell structures firsthand under the microscope.
Students documented their findings through microscope images and collaborative practical work.
A valuable hands-on experience that strengthened observation skills and reinforced their understanding of cell biology.

Speaking Up on the World Stage 🇺🇳
AIS Basel students took part in the FERMUN conference, an inspiring and academically enriching experience that brought international diplomacy to life.
From the opening ceremony at the Palais des Nations in Geneva to thought-provoking debates at the International Labour Organization (ILO), students engaged in meaningful discussions with UN experts within their committees.
The trilingual conference, conducted in English, French, and Spanish, welcomed participants from around the world, including Ghana, Costa Rica, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Martinique, and many others.
It was a pleasure to see AIS Basel students negotiate with confidence, deliver impactful speeches, and articulate their perspectives on a global stage.
By stepping beyond their comfort zones, they built international connections and created lasting memories that will shape their educational journey.

Together We Are Strong 💪
At AIS Basel, learning also focuses on personal growth. Year 8A and 8B students explored Social and Emotional Learning through the project “Together We Are Strong.”
Based on the 24 character strengths by Martin Seligman and the VIA Institute, students identified five core strengths and reflected on how these shape their role within the class and school community.
In the creative project “Hands of Strengths,” each student painted their hand, with every finger representing one strength.
The result is a collection of individual artworks that highlight self awareness, collaboration and a strong sense of community at AIS Basel.
